Chiropractic Care to Relieve Auto Accident Neck Pain

If you have recently been in a car accident, you might not feel the full extent of your injuries for days after the event. It’s important to receive medical attention as soon as possible after you are involved in an auto accident, even if you don’t experience major pain right away. Dr. Battles provides neck pain care for our clients in Charlotte at Chiropractic Injury Center.

Auto accident injuries can involve a variety of treatment options to relieve chronic or acute pain. For those worried about visiting a chiropractor for the first time, we can explain any procedure we provide. It’s important to fully understand your treatment. Not all chiropractic care involves spinal manipulation. If you have been in a car accident, Dr. Battles will treat you with the utmost care. Our chiropractor may suggest exercises that you can perform at home to build up your strength.

Do not try any exercises following an accident until you are cleared to do so by your primary healthcare provider and your chiropractor. Prescribed exercises shouldn’t cause you more than mild discomfort. If you experience a lot of pain, discontinue the exercises you’re performing immediately. When you strengthen your back and neck, it can speed up the recovery process for neck pain.

Talk to Your Charlotte Chiropractor about Neck Pain Treatment

When you first visit Dr. Battles, she may suggest cervical mobilization and manual traction.

During this treatment, you lay on your back as the chiropractor manually adjusts your vertebra. Gentle motions left to right and to the side are applied. The chiropractor may move your head forward and backward as well. This gentle treatment releases knots and trigger points to help you relax and relieve pain. Dr. Battles gently stretches the cervical spine at different angles, varying between flexion, or forward motion, with extension, or backward motions. Once she finds the right angle, she concentrates on relieving tightness.

Cervical mobilization and manual traction are often combined, with the chiropractor switching between the two.
